What is it about?

local scour is one of the main causes of most waterway bridge failures during flood events. No unique and inexpensive methods have been suggested to solve the problem to date. In this study, a new flow diversion structure is proposed as a new countermeasure and its performance was examined experimentally. _x000D_ It was found that new countermeasure reduced the maximum scour depth by 38%, while, the volume of the scour hole decreased around 61%. _x000D_
