What is it about?

This paper details a thorough, multi-year survey of the dragonflies of a highly developed urban county in Michigan, USA. We documented 33 new species of dragonflies and damselflies for Wayne County, Michigan, including 6 new state records.

Why is it important?

Urban areas tend to be ignored in general faunal surveys, with the expectation nothing "new" can be found except for perhaps non-native species. This work refutes this notion by documenting with voucher specimens many new records for the county. We also review old museum and literature records and make corrections.
