This paper looks at how shovel nosed lobsters (also known as slipper lobsters) dig into sand, and what kind of sands they prefer.

Why is it important?

Digging is a common behaviour in crustaceans, but it isn't studied very much because it's hard to see. This species is fished commercially, so understanding how and where it digs could be relevant to managing the fishery.
