What is it about?

A look into Library Twitter. Creating a large list of libraries who tweet and interviewing six libraries from different sectors who could be called successful by their peers.

Why is it important?

So many libraries are on Twitter and a few have had wildly successful accounts but a core sense of perspective regarding time spent on social media and a good idea of what the ROI would look like is very important.

Perspectives

While working as a library assistant in a medical library I was told 'you're young, can you do a Twitter account?' to which I responded 'well I can try.' I had no idea what to Tweet about, how to measure ROI or consider patient confidentiality (not to mention staff safety - I worked in a mental health trust). I muddled my way through but would have loved a resource dashboard of medical libraries so I could see what people were doing. Not to mention a sense of perspective for what sort of metrics I could expect as a medical library.
