Why is it important?

Thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP) is a rare severe disease that must be diagnosed and treated promptly for a successful outcome.

Perspectives

Early addition of rituximab for the treatment of our patient added benefits to achieve complete remission of the disease. This was the first report of rituximab use to treat TTP in Brazil. Nowadays, rituximab is part of the therapeutic arsenal to treat TTP.
