There is no estimation of the impact of adoting deferral criteria for CJD and vCJD in our country.

Perspectives

The "Precautionary Principle" states that action should be taken in the absence of secure data when the consequences of inaction can be catastrophic. Let us consider that, in our population today, we can maintain the "Precautionary Principle" for CJD and vCJD deferral of donors without harming the supply of blood and components to our patients.
