What is it about?
The deformation behavior and fracture of a metastable austenitic stainless AISI 304 stainless steel at different temperatures were investigated in this work.

Why is it important?
The influence of temperature on the deformation mechanisms and fracture formation of the investigated steel was successfully performed. Several deformation stages were detected at lower temperatures, being associated with the formation of a harder phase due to deformation. With an increase in temperature, this transformation was suppressed, which greatly impacted the mechanical properties of the material.
