What is it about?
Home blood pressure measurement(HBPM) is an important method for diagnosing a major risk factor such as arterial hypertension. We first showed its importance in a population with myocardial infarction and stroke. Traditionally, these participants were usually excluded from analyses.

Why is it important?
We identified masked hypertension in men with history myocardial infarction and diabetes mellitus, white coat hypertension in patients with a history of stroke. This is important for clinical practice for two reasons: a) the high specificity of HBPM for masked hypertension b) the low sensitivity of HBPM in the assessment of nocturnal hypertension.
