What is it about?

The experimental investigation had been carried out to evaluate the shrinkage of Ternary Blended Concrete. Ternary Blended Concrete is made by partial replacement of cement by sugarcane bagasse ash and silica fume. The shrinkage of Ternary blended Concrete has been studied using the different percentage replacements of cement by sugarcane bagasse ash and silica fume. From the test results of the above investigation it can be conAcluded that the shrinkage strain of Ternary Blended Concrete increases with age.

Why is it important?

The shrinkage strain of concrete with replacement of cement by 5 % to 15% of Sugarcane bagasse ash and 10% Silicafume respectively at various ages are less than the shrinkage strain of concrete 0%, 20% 25% and 30%. The shrinkage strain of Ternary blended Concrete is also compared with that of normal strength concrete.

Perspectives

Test results show that the shrinkage strain of ternary blended concrete is less than that of normal strength concrete up to an optimum replacement of up to 15%.
