What is it about?

This article looks at the music mentioned in the manifesto written by the Norwegian terrorist Anders Behring Breivik. His stated musical preferences are examined to reveal something of his character, as well as the was in which this music helped him in preparing and visualising his attack.

Why is it important?

Breivik is often described as a lone-wolf terrorist and it is highlighted that he lived and operated on the fringes of society. However, his identification with certain music and musicians shows that he felt part of something greater, as this music allowed him to feel part of a wider community.
