What is it about?
Mother is an important role of woman. Its concept is constructed by different discursive sources including the Qur'an and its interpretation. the paper discusses this issue in relation with how Muslim Women in modern Indonesia extend and restrict the meaning of it.

Why is it important?
our finding shows that Indonesian Muslim women from time to time tends to restrict the ideal meaning of mother described and prescribed in the Qur'an. Thus we need to reinterpret it to extend its meaning, by doing this, we expect that the agency of Muslim women in Indonesia will play more important and strategic role.
Perspectives
I hope this article contribute to the very important discourse but still neglected. Mother agency deserves more academic attention.
