Why is it important?

The management of digital records has been a topic of great scholarly debate for several years. Discussions surrounding the systems used to manage these records and other digital content have often employed various terms interchangeably, without considering their nuanced differences. Moreover, different countries have developed standards and best practice guidelines to address the difficulties in assessing and implementing these applications. Despite the wealth of resources available to records professionals as they navigate through software implementation challenges, it is crucial to clarify terminology, identify implementation stages, and adhere to suitable standards and best practices.

Perspectives

The study offers an evaluation of how the different stages of ECM implementation are related to existing standards and guidelines for best practices. It examines the gaps that exist between these phases and provides recommendations on how to bridge those gaps.
