Why is it important?

The challenge for agricultural research is to contribute to increasing agricultural productivity through improved crop yields and the use of intrinsic capabilities of local accessions tolerance to diseases. To properly use these local varieties, it is imperative to identify them, to characterize them and eliminate duplicates in the collections.
