What is it about?

This is a review of a book entitled Migrating Music edited by Jason Toynbee and Byron Dueck. The book examines a number of issues related to mobility of music, musician and music listeners as well as various ways or means through which music travels. It also discusses how physical locations and conditions in these locations shape music migration. The review also show how various theories and perspectives developed in various essays collected in this book can be applied in the study of the music of Tanzania and its cosmopolitan nature as well as cosmopolitan music worldwide.
