Why is it important?
Concept and Reality has been influential in Buddhist scholarship, translations of primary texts and popular Buddhism. However, the thesis itself is unclear in many details and translations of early texts sometimes overly interpretive. This "Assessment" is an attempt to explicate what the author may have intended to say while pointing out problems of translation and interpretation.
