What is it about?

The comic series Tintin originates in a conservative Catholic milieu as a humorous visual comment to contemporary social issues. Due to revisions and fictionalization Tintin has lost much of its explicit Catholicism. Yet, the series has continued to embody Catholic values, albeit in a more implicit way.

The literature on Tintin under the supervision of the Hergé Foundation tends to minimize the religious aspects. Incidental Catholic appraisals of Tintin tend to disregard the more controversial aspects of Tintin's Catholicism.
