What is it about?
Natural rubber (NR) was chemically modified via graft copolymerization with maleic anhydride and then esterification with poly(pactic acid) (PLA) for using as the compatibilizer for PLA/NR blends.

Why is it important?
The observation indicated that the graft natural rubber could improve the compatibility between NR and PLA phase in the blends resulting in the improvement of impact strength of PLA/NR composites.
