What is it about?

A fast, reliable method has been developed for the determination of cannabis metabolite (THC-COOH) in urine, using LC—MS/MS. It could be detected in 1.75min in LC-MS/MS. Comprehensive validation was performed. Even 1.41 ng/mL could be detected usin this method. HorRat was calculated to assess the inter-day and inter-analyst precision values. Successful results were obtained with the CEDIA positive real samples containing cannabis.

Why is it important?

Cannabinoids are components of marijuana and its metabolite THC-COOH is excreted in the urine of the users. To detect if a suspected person has used cannabis, a fast, reliable, sensitive, simple method is needed fo4r routine analysis.

Perspectives

You can detect the mariuana metabolite in 2 minutes with a simple HPLC column without using UPLC after you extract the metabolite from urine in one step, using a simple Toxi-tube method. HorRat assessment for intermediate precisions was used exraordinarily in a forensic determination method.
