What is it about?
We review a number of studies and research projects that use different types of corpora and explain what are some of the main difficulties scholars face when analysing translated news texts, which are often heavily mediated and edited in various ways. We call for mutual recognition and cross-fertilization between disciplines that investigate translated news from different, usually complementary, perspectives.

Why is it important?
We attempt to encourage debate that can hopefully instigate closer collaboration across fields and between scholars with different disciplinary backgrounds. We call for the introduction of "comparallel corpora", i.e. corpora that include texts whose source cannot be identified with high certainty.
Perspectives
This paper reviews existing studies from different subdisciplines and brings together references that are usually separate. It offers an overview which to our knowledge is not found elsewhere.
