What is it about?

H. pylori infection is still an important concern for Bulgarian children with overall prevalence of 24.5%, although having decreased by about 1.8%/yearly over 21 years. We stress the importance of H. pylori diagnostics even in the youngest symptomatic children and we found an inverse association between either GERD or bile reflux and H. pylori infection.

Periodic studies on the infection prevalence in children , strict hygiene measures to avoid infection transmission and new/ optimized regimens for the eradication of the infection are needed.
