What is it about?

Development of antimicrobial resistance is being investigated all over the world. It is kind of multi-layer and multi-factor process. Selected mutation in regulator genes is one of the most important ways pathogens use to overcome antibiotic stress make them uneasy to be defeated under treatment. We showed one important case in the publication.

Why is it important?

Many mutations can be selected during antibiotic exposure, however this deletion mutation in nfxB seems to have decisive role in maintaining multi-drug resistance status.

Perspectives

It seems that this kind of selected mutation is popular under antibiotic stress which is what we always apply in infection treatment. It would be worthy to further study mutations of other regulatory genes.

Working and writing this article was a great pleasure as it has co-authors with whom I have had long standing collaborations. This article also lead to discover the associated antibiotics resistant disease and ultimately to a greater involvement in solving them.
