What is it about?

This study is comparing the data from multiple sources and clinical trials in looking at the long-term outcome of both techniques in dealing with diabetic patients who suffered coronary artery disease.

Why is it important?

This paper analyses the results from previous clinical trials and concluded that in diabetic patients with multivessel disease, open bypass surgery has a lower mortality rate, myocardial infarction, or revascularization procedure as compared to stenting.

Perspectives

Many patients are in a dilemma to choose in between a less invasive procedure such as stenting in treating their coronary artery disease to a more invasive method such as bypass surgery. This paper lays down the arguments for both and to be chosen by diabetic patients suffering from coronary artery disease.
