Why is it important?
This paper analyses the results from previous clinical trials and concluded that in diabetic patients with multivessel disease, open bypass surgery has a lower mortality rate, myocardial infarction, or revascularization procedure as compared to stenting.
Perspectives
Many patients are in a dilemma to choose in between a less invasive procedure in treating their coronary artery disease to a more invasive method such as bypass surgery. This paper lays down the arguments for both to be chosen by diabetic patients suffering from coronary artery disease.
