What is it about?
To find out how a certain component of the cell is made, we looked for worms that lose the glow that the component usually gives them. This paper describes everything we found out about one such worm, the gene that caused it to lose its glow, and how it might work.

Why is it important?
Loss of lysosome-related organelles in humans causes a type of albinism, and we already know some genes responsible. This work uses an elegant worm to discover a new gene in this class.
Perspectives
This article describes an extremely fun and rewarding few years of work in the laboratory, led by an inspiring young professor and conducted by a group of young scientists - I joined this group as a teenager, and learned so much from this thrilling experience that set me on my path to becoming a woman in science.
