First cloned the histone acetyltransferase Dmel\Tip60 gene in Drosophila. Unveiled Dmel\Tip60 (and Dmel\Elp3) expression pattern by using real-time RT-PCR. Carried out P-element transformation to create transgenic fly lines carrying control, RNAi, and overexpression constructs. Assessed the phenotypic defects of Dmel\Tip60 RNAi knock-out in both cell (S2) lines and in vivo using a variety of GAL4-UAS fly drivers. For the first time, investigated Dmel\Tip60 function during development in vivo.
