Research on small scale resistance spot welding of zirconium alloys and stainless steel with different algorithms of modulated current is done.

Perspectives
In order to develop welding technologies for zirconium alloys, as well as for welding other materials used in the manufacture of critical structures (nuclear industry, low temperature application, etc.), the following projects are in process. Improving stability of the quality of welds (zero defects, high mechanical properties and corrosion resistance, reduced residual stresses and tendency to hydrogen induced embrittlement and cracking) by controlling quantity of energy input into the weld zone. The objects of regulation are: • algorithm of altering current and force during weld cycle for resistance welding; • the parameters of the beam and the algorithm of its movement for laser welding; • the parameters of the pulsed current and consumables for arc welding.
