The androgen receptor in bone marrow progenitor cells negatively regulates fat mass

What is it about?

It is well established that the male sex hormone, testosterone, decreases fat mass in males. However, the way in which testosterone exerts these effects is not well understood. We show for the first time that testosterone can act on cells located within the bone marrow to decrease fat mass.
