What is it about?

Estradiol and progesterone act in specific group of neurons by activating their receptors and regulate the levels of other hormones and the reproductive behavior in female mammals and in women. We show that fluctuations in the levels of these ovarian hormones promote organized changes in the expression and co-localization of progesterone and estrogen receptors in the neurons that are responsible for the activation of the female rat copulatory behavior.
