Impact of uteroplacental insufficiency on postnatal rat male gonad

What is it about?

Prenatal events such as intrauterine growth restriction can affect gonadal development of the offspring and have an impact on reproductive health. We investigate for the first time testicular gene expression, structure and function in a rat model of intrauterine growth restriction induced by uteroplacental insufficiency. We show that prenatal growth restriction affect testis development and function and determines profound genetic changes which may have a severe impact on male reproductive health.
