What is it about?
We compared the genes used by mature beta cells with those used by immature beta cells. We validated genes differently used by both kinds of beta cells by measuring processes in which they are involved.

Why is it important?
It is important to understand the functional maturation of beta cells and the insulin secretion. For example after lactation, rats present a physiologic stage of insulin resistance and it is important to understand how this process affects insulin secretion.
