Perspectives

It is interesting to be able to report a case of PDB in a Nigerian 3 years after a therapeutic intervention with alendronate. To the best of my knowledge this is the first patient to have had the privilege of such therapy in Nigeria. Though, the patient was never symptomatic of PDB but the treatment is in line with international best practices as provided in recent guidelines for management of the disease. PDB still remains largely a rare condition in Africans but it is good news that currently available therapy are also effective in black Africans.
