What is it about?
Specialized monocytes with patrolling behavior, which are termed Ly6C lo monocytes, are recruited to sites of arterial injury and promote endothelial proliferation. The recruitment of these cells is coordinated by a cell-bound chemokine, called Fractalkine (CX3CL1), which recruits these cells its cognate receptor CX3CR1.
