What is it about?
The outdoor exposure was conducted for 10 years, which imposed cyclic movements of extension and compression on 12 kinds of sealants. The exposed sites were in three different climate regions in Japan. Researching the weather resistance of building sealants from the viewpoint of waterproof performance, this paper proposes a method to evaluate the weather resistance of building sealants by measuring the depth of damage.

Why is it important?
We conducted a dynamic exposure test for 10 years and evaluated the weather resistance from the viewpoint of waterproof performance, and showed that this method is quite effective. This is what we have shed light for the first time.
Perspectives
I hope this paper will be helpful to those who study the weather resistance of building sealants.
