What is it about?
This paper presents the results of laboratory tests on flash smelting slag leaching with NaOH solutions. The experiments performed allowed to determine the process parameters at which the Pb content in the post-leaching sediment reached the lowest value of 1.52%.

Why is it important?
The use of a sodium hydroxide solution for leaching lead from flash smelting slag allows, under optimized conditions, to remove more than 50% of the lead contained in the starting material.
Perspectives
The application of NaOH solutions for selective recovery of lead from waste materials could be introduced into industrial practice.
