What is it about?
In recent years there has been an increase of occupational welfare in Germany. In addition to pension systems companies now also offer social services such as child care. The goal of this article is to contribute to the discussion about the relationship between occupational welfare and the state welfare system and its consequences for vulnerable groups. Methodologically the actor constellations are described and analysed in a case study. Results show that the social inequalities between insiders and outsiders increase in the labour market, especially if previously state regulated services are replaced by services organized by companies. There are also implications for the children of the outsiders. It can be concluded that the expansion of occupational welfare contributes to a decay of the German corporatist welfare system.
