What is it about?
In Germany, Protestant religious education promotes teaching the ability of peaceful coexistence. In the wake of growing religious plurality, not only in Germany, but also in other countries like Norway, the specific question of religious coexistence as educational aim has become important. How do the religious teaching programs deal with religious plurality? This article compares German and Norwegian teaching programs in schools and churches. This is achieved through the analysis of documents used in religious education, focusing on the age group of 13–15 year olds. In the context of historical, systematic and social aspects, the ability of religious coexistence, both, in Germany and Norway, can be identified at school and church, but it manifests itself in different ways.
