What is it about?

The nonlinear singular oscillator describes a model of the path taken by an electron in an electron beam injected into a plasma tube. This equation has attracted some attention. This paper constructs highly accurate analytical approximate solution to the oscillator.

Why is it important?

Our finding show that the proposed second-order Newton method can easily be used to construct highly accurate analytical approximate solutions to such a singular oscillator and shows faster convergence.

Perspectives

Generalisation and application of the proposed approximate procedure to other classes of nonlinear oscillation problems would also be of great theoretical and practical interest.
