What is it about?
Ps 40 represents a royal meditation on Dtn 17,18-19. But the psalm undergone a jeremian revisión in the light of Jer 38. In connection with this revisión the redaction of the book of Jeremiah was influenced by Ps 40, as appears especilly in Jr 17,5-7; 31|,33; 12,3 and the "confessions", and finally in 7,21-28.
