What is it about?
A new species of the genus Hendrella (Diptera: Tephritidae), Hendrella kermanensis Mohamadzade Namin, Madjdzadeh & Moeinadini, sp. n. was described for the first time from southeastern Iran (Kerman province). This species was reared from stem galls of Artemisia aucheri (Asteraceae).

Why is it important?
Finding and describing new species is an important task in taxonomy. Hendrella Munro, 1938 is a small genus including eight species occurring mostly in the Central Asian part of the Palaearctic Region; six Oriental and Australasian species that were included in the catalogue of fruit flies.
Perspectives
Writing this article was a great pleasure as it has co-authors with whom I have had active collaborations. The result led to describing a new tephritid species from Southeastern Iran (Kerman province).
