What is it about?

Some individuals experiencing psychosis have difficulties with their verbal abilities. I investigated a language network of the brain in relation to these difficulties to see if there were any deviations in this network that could help explain these difficulties with verbal skills.

Why is it important?

It is important to understand why some people with psychosis have difficulties with their mental or cognitive skills such as verbal skills. If we understand what is happening in the brain to cause these difficulties it could help identify possible therapeutic strategies for them.

Perspectives

Understanding the nature of cognitive impairments or difficulties with mental ability is important. These problems can begin before psychosis and therefore have the potential to be utilised as markers for developing psychosis.
