What is it about?

Many industrial units discharge wastewater locally without treatment. Many industries directly discharged their waste into lakes, rivers and ocean. Water contamination impacts the environment.

Why is it important?

Water contamination can damage or destroy the ecosystem. Careless human pollution is degrading numerous areas and negatively affecting human populations. Water contamination can arise as a consequence of natural or unnatural compounds being added to a water source. Some animals and plants are exceptionally susceptible to the effects of water pollution.

Perspectives

A review of the environmental impacts of pollution sites in Rajasthan shows that the largest regional source of point source pollution are likely to be the industrial plants lining the major rivers in the state.
