What is it about?

Cultural differences between Christian denominations, or even among members of one and the same denomination, are able to undermine their ecumenical efforts, to foster differences and tensions, instead of overcoming them. Perspectives

Ecumenical dialogues deal with certain theological problems on a theoretical level. One might think that this rational approach guarantees their permanent success, but this is not the case. On the contrary. It is the authors belief that the willingness or refusal to understand and accept the arguments of the dialogue partner is conditioned by previous bondings. By accepting these conditionalities the participants in theological dialogues may gain a better insight in their own identity and that of the dialogue partner.
