Increasing operationability of marine web-GIS by integration with Service Support Environment

What is it about?

In the context of increasing number of new applications of satellite imagery as Earth Observation EO products, the authors developed the marine, web-GIS system - "SafeCity GIS" - for dissemination of data obtained from a 1.5 metre HRPT-MetOp satellite ground receiving station. To increase the operationability of the system the authors successfully extended the offered system's functionality by integration with Service Support Environment (SSE). Due to this, EO products for the Coastal Zone of the Pomeranian Region are served as web-services; among them there are True Color imagery, meteo, algae monitoring and fire-detection services. The authors discuss the advantages and disadvantages of the created solution.
