What is it about?
Two simple methods were developed for the synthesis of differently substituted 1,3-azaphospholo[1,5-a]pyridines. These compounds were subsequently used as the starting synthons for obtaining a wide variety of organophosphorus compounds.

Why is it important?
We have demonstrated how starting with simple starting compounds, complex organophosphorus compounds can be prepared.
Perspectives
The work can be extended in many directions, particularly for the synthesis of chiral phosphines.
