What is it about?
The article intends to compare the philosophical concepts of man put forward by Charles Darwin and Ernest Cassirer with the one held by the Brazilian philosopher Henrique Vaz. While Darwin stresses mostly the biological aspects of human nature and Cassirer pays more attention to the cultural elements that characterize us, Henrique Vaz is able to go further, so the article claims. Vaz’s anthropological philosophy is able to include the points made by both Darwin and Cassirer without falling into the problems their proposals end up facing. The article argues that he can provide a comprehensive concept of man, which takes into account the complexity of the matter and helps to understand the relationships among its main points.
