The research is about Crop farmers losses due to herdsmen attack , effects of the attack on their socio- economic well being and food security . It also examined the ways and strategies the farmers have been engaging in coping with the menace.

Why is it important?

Thus, it is important to assess the damaged cause by clashes within the community on food security and also to examine the way the communities have been coping with this unfortunate economy disaster. The knowledge of what is prevalent in this study area will help the administrators at state and federal levels to determine the method to be used in establishing lasting peace in the developing state economy. The issue of food security is a complex issue with attendance challenges. Many authors have focused on the constraints to food security but have neglected other environmental exogenous factors to food security. Food security and poverty reduction are major goals of sustainable development, which cannot be achievable under chaotic and turbulent environment since farmers can only produce food under stable and peaceful environment

Perspectives

The extent of losses incurred by crop farmers , their groaning without helpers has moved us to carry out this research , This research will provide the government and non-governmental organization information on the current situation and further guide them on the area of intervention. Furthermore, the research provide information on the cultural background and socio-economic characteristics of the farmers as this may serve as baseline for further study in the area . Moreover, the outcome of this research will help the federal Government of Nigeria to know the extent to which human and social infrastructure has been affected as a result of this incessant clashes . The clashes have further aggravated hunger, poverty level and unemployment in the zone.
