What is it about?

This paper presents results of the first empirical study of household accounting in Slovenia. Detailed calculations for economic decisions in everyday life represent accounting in everyday life and are a reflection of economic rationalism of commons. Similarly in entrepreneurship where comparison of financial inputs and proceeds might have a decisive role for economic success or failure of an entrepreneur. We therefore evaluate in this paper differences in household accounting activities between two groups of entrepreneurs - the successful and the unsuccessful.

Why is it important?

The results of survey provide the first information on household accounting in Slovenia and on household accounting of entrepreneurs in Slovenia. This paper offers an insight into defining components for measurements of household accounting activities. It compares household activities between two groups of entrepreneurs.

Perspectives

The survey in this paper may be used as a basis for measurement of economic rationality as individual psychological traits. The results of the survey on hte other hand present a valuable basis for further longitudinal/panel and cross-country studies on accounting in households and on its role in entrepreneurship.
