What is it about?

Many aspects of femininity related to women’s procreative function are at the core of gender studies. This article aims to depict motherhood in the Islamic tradition with the objective of understanding if the texts consider biology as a destiny for women. Questions related to ethics, women's rights as well as parenting are analyzed. This article offers a feminist reading of the texts which build for an approach to motherhood as a priceless contribution that; nonetheless, does not constitute a hindrance to women's other social and professional achievements.
