What is it about?
Left ventricular dysfunction is very frequent in asymptomatic diabetic population. Tissue Doppler Imaging (TDI) is able to record early changes of left ventricular dysfunction and to identify asymptomatic diabetic patients at high risk of developing heart failure.

Why is it important?
TDI unmasks the presence of subclinical LV dysfunction in asymptomatic diabetic patients and has a valuable prognostic importance.
Perspectives
Detection of asymptomatic myocardial dysfunction will contribute to reduction of burden of cardiovasular comoplications in diabetic population
