Functional Model to Estimate the Inelastic Displacement Ratio

What is it about?

Based on functional models proposed by other authors, a mathematical expression is chosen for the mean inelastic displacement ratio and its standard deviation. With the help of nonlinear regression analysis the expressions coefficients are approximated.

Why is it important?

The data used in the nonlinear regression is from the seismic response of nonlinear oscillators with different hysteretic behavior. The seismic input is from real accelerograms that exhibit a pulse in their record. The scatter in values obtained from the data is also observed for the proposed functional form of the standard deviation.
